Non-Profit Organizations Exemption

Non-profits, including charitable, religious and private school organizations, may apply for exemption from property tax.

Application Process

The application form, along with the state's fee of $200, is submitted to the Assessor's Office. Our office verifies location and ownership information and then forwards the application and fee to the Division of Property Taxation (Division). The Division reviews the application and informs both the property owner and the Assessor's Office of their determination. If an exemption is approved by the Division, the Assessor's Office will update the property record accordingly.

Annual Reports

Annual renewal with the Division is required. Annual renewal fee is $110 for timely filing (before April 15th) and $300 for late filing (April 16th through July 1st). Owners who fail to file Exempt Property Reports by the filing deadline forfeit their right to claim exemption and their property is returned to the tax rolls as of January 1 of the year in which the failure to file occurred.
