The state-run site in Frisco is one of 20 remaining sites in Colorado to be closed as expansion of at-home testing reduces demand. The vaccine bus will also visit Summit County for its final day on January 25th.
SUMMIT COUNTY—Summit County Public Health officials announced the closure of the state sponsored COVID-19 testing site in Frisco effective January 16th. The facility is one of 20 remaining state-run sites that will be closed as increased use of at-home tests has reduced demand statewide. The state-run mobile vaccine buses will also provide their last clinic in Summit County on January 25th.
“Community COVID-19 testing was an important strategy during the pandemic. The availability and effectiveness of free at-home test kits, vaccines and treatment have moved us to a different stage now,” said Amy Wineland, Summit County Public Health Director.
At-home, rapid antigen tests are free and available to order by mail by visiting covidtests.gov. These tests are also available at various locations throughout the county, including Summit County Library branches, the Summit County Senior and Community Center, and Summit County Public Health offices.
Testing and vaccines are also available at most provider offices and pharmacies. Those 6 months and older are eligible for the COVID-19 booster to reduce severity of illness and prevent hospitalizations.
Those experiencing COVID-19 symptoms are still encouraged to be tested. Those who test positive should still isolate for five days.
“We are shifting to management of COVID-19 as an endemic disease,” said Wineland. “This means transitioning state-supported testing and vaccination to traditional partners and settings similar to how services for other communicable diseases are provided.”
The final dates/locations for the state mobile vaccine clinics in Summit County are as follows:
