SUMMIT COUNTY -- Community Members are invited to attend the Summit County Livable Community Volunteer and Care Fair on Tuesday, June 14 from 4-7 p.m. at the Community and Senior Center. The event is planned to be held annually going forward.

The fair is intended to showcase resources for community members of all ages – locally and regionally. Organizations will be represented that utilize volunteers and/or provide care services, resources or information for community members of all ages.  Come to learn about all types of Volunteer Opportunities for all ages. These opportunities can be everything from delivering Meals on Wheels to homebound individuals, financial & legal community assistance programs, youth, local health & wellness opportunities, emergency services, educational, trails, the Arts, pet support, etc.  There will be activities, food and disaster ready giveaways, or “go bags” for 150 people.

Over the past two years, residents of Summit County have attended community input sessions and participated on advisory committees, resulting in the first-ever Age Friendly Livable Community Plan. This is a Community Plan for all ages and life stages. Summit County is committed to developing new initiatives, while promoting the existing efforts of partners, non-profits, County departments and community members to make us a livable community for residents of all ages and abilities. Access the link below to see the adopted County plan, which includes the four focus areas selected: https://www.summitcountyco.gov/DocumentCenter/View/34000/Summit-County-2021-Age-Friendly-Plan---FINAL

Multiple community partners participated, including municipalities, County Commissioners and several other partner organizations and sponsors. The Livable Community Volunteer and Career fair will include activities for children, door prizes, a variety of food, and emergency bag giveaways.
