SUMMIT COUNTY - Summit County Commissioner Elisabeth Lawrence received the distinction of election to the Colorado Counties, Inc. (CCI) board by her peers in the mountain district. The CCI Board is an 8-member board representing 64 counties in Colorado. Each CCI district elects a representative to the Board of Directors at their district meeting during the annual Membership meeting.
CCI is a non-profit, membership association whose purpose is to offer assistance to county commissioners, mayors and council members and to encourage counties to work together on common issues. Governed by a board of directors consisting of eight commissioners from across the state, CCI focuses on information, education and legislative representation. Each district in CCI has a representative on the board for a one-year term.
“We are incredibly proud of Elisabeth Lawrence for her dedication and commitment to our community in helping to navigate the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic,” Summit County Manager Scott Vargo said. “Her leadership in working with area and state representatives to advance legislation to better serve the interests of our mountain resort communities has been an enormous asset and we are so grateful to have her as part of our Board of County Commissioners.”
Lawrence has been instrumental in driving improvements and access to key community services such as affordable housing and childcare, particularly during the unprecedented challenges Colorado counties have faced throughout the pandemic. She played a key role in driving forward initiatives such as the Quandary Peak Parking and Shuttle Pilot Program, the Alpine Inn conversion to workforce housing, and the Lease to Locals short-term rental conversion program.
Elisabeth Lawrence has previously served as the Vice President of the CCI Mountain District and vice chair of the CCI tourism, resorts & economic development steering committee.
