Recpath Maintenance Projects Slated for late August and September

Fall Rec Path

Contact: Jordan Mead, Resource Specialist, Summit County Open Space and Trails Department

SUMMIT COUNTY –  Several Recpath improvement projects are slated to start in the next month. Beginning Tuesday, August 24, red bike lane coating will be added to the Recpath on Huron Road in Breckenridge. The project will take roughly three days to complete, depending on weather conditions, and will greatly improve the safety of Recpath users along this roadway.

“The Recpath in this area was enhanced during roadway improvements last year, and this colorization will put the finishing touches on those enhancements,” said Jordan Mead, Resource Specialist with Summit County Open Space and Trails. “The additional color will set the bike lane apart from other road markings and make it more clearly visible to motorists.”

Red bike lane coating will also be added along the Dillon Dam Road where the Recpath shares the roadway. The tentative start date for this project is the week of August 30, however will be dependent on weather conditions. The Recpath will be detoured onto the Dillon Dam Road while this work is in progress, and the road will be reduced to one lane with alternating directional traffic. Work will take place Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and is expected to take four days to complete.

Additional shoulder improvements will occur on the Recpath along Dillon Dam Road between the Town of Frisco and the Dillon Reservoir Dam at the end of September. Recpath traffic will be detoured onto the Dillon Dam Road during weekdays when work is occurring.

“We greatly appreciate our community’s understanding while this work to improve the safety and longevity of our Recpath is completed,” said Mead. “We know the Recpath serves as a valuable resource for our community and we look forward to improving the experience for all of our users.”
