The Summit County Main Library located in the County Commons in Frisco will be undergoing a renovation beginning September 2021 and continuing through 2022. The current library space will close on Sunday, August 22 for the renovations, and a temporary library will be set up in the Buffalo Mountain room of the County Commons to serve the public during that time.

“As services, programming, and technology adapt and evolve, our libraries must follow suit,” says Library Director Stephanie Ralph. “We plan to create a brighter, more open, and user-friendly space at the Main Library in Frisco.”

Some of the planned updates to the current library include:

  • A new entrance leading directly into the library
  • Expanded children and teen reading and creative areas
  • Additional spaces for working remotely, studying, and reading, as well as a library programming room.

In preparation for the construction, the Main Library will close to the public Sunday, August 22. Curbside pickup of materials on hold will be available during this closure by calling 970-668-4138. All other library services will be suspended during this time.

Beginning Tuesday, September 7, the library will reopen and  operate out of a temporary satellite location in the Buffalo Mountain Room of the County Commons building. 15-minute computer sessions with printing, picking up holds, book returns, outdoor story time and new books for all ages, will be available.

“We are grateful to be able to continue offering services to the public, right next to our normal location, during this renovation,” says Operations Manager Sarah Hulsey. “And we can’t wait to welcome patrons back into our updated space in 2022.”

The North Branch Library in Silverthorne and South Branch Library in Breckenridge will be open Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Fridays & Saturdays 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The South Branch Library in Breckenridge has several study rooms available for public use; call 970-453-3544 for more information.
