Summit County Announces Second COVID-19 Death

SUMMIT COUNTY – The Summit County Coroner’s Office and Summit County Public Health have confirmed a second COVID-19-related death of a Summit County resident.

An 89-year-old Summit County man died Saturday, April 25, at St. Anthony Summit Medical Center from respiratory failure due to COVID-19. Summit Medical Center listed liver cancer as a secondary cause of death. The man tested positive for COVID-19 prior to his death.

"We are very saddened to confirm that we have lost a member of our community to COVID-19," Public Health Director Amy Wineland said. "We extend our deep condolences to his loved ones. We are so sorry for their loss."

Summit County will not release any further information about this death.

CONDADO DE SUMMIT - La oficina del forense del Condado de Summit y Salud Pública del Condado de Summit han confirmado una segunda muerte relacionada con COVID-19 de un residente del Condado de Summit.

Un hombre de 89 años del Condado de Summit murió el sábado 25 de abril en el Centro Médico St. Anthony Summit por insuficiencia respiratoria debido a COVID-19. El Centro Médico Summit  enumeró el cáncer de hígado como una causa secundaria de muerte. El hombre dio positivo por COVID-19 antes de su muerte.

"Nos entristece mucho confirmar que hemos perdido a un miembro de nuestra comunidad debido a COVID-19", dijo la Directora de Salud Pública, Amy Wineland. "Expresamos nuestro más sentido pésame a sus seres queridos. Lamentamos mucho su pérdida".

El Condado de Summit no divulgará ninguna información adicional sobre esta muerte.
