SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY IN KEYSTONE
SUMMIT COUNTY, CO – On December 22, 2019, at approximately 5:58 a.m. the Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check for a screaming male at the Slopeside Condominiums, 1211 W. Keystone Road in the Mountain House area of Keystone. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted a male victim stating he had been robbed at gunpoint.
The victim had been unfamiliar with the Mountain House area and asked the suspect for directions. The suspect then led the victim to an exterior common area where he pulled out a gun and demanded the victim’s wallet and cell phone or he would shoot him. The suspect was last seen running on a sidewalk east towards River Run. Summit County Sheriff deputies along with officers from both Dillon and Silverthorne searched the area for the suspect but the suspect was not located. It is believed that the suspect left the area. The suspect is described as a white male approximately 35 years old, 5’10”, wearing brown pants, brown boot, a long black jacket and a ski mask.
Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons stated, “We are seeking the community’s assistance in solving this armed robbery. We are looking to speak to anyone that may have either seen someone acting suspicious or matching the suspect’s description loitering around the Mountain House area in Keystone early Sunday morning. The victim in this case was responding to a dating app and may have been lured to the area by the suspect. If you or anyone you know has been a victim of a similar crime please contact our detectives immediately.”
The investigation is ongoing. If you have any information regarding this incident please contact Detective Sergeant Rob Pearce at (970) 423-8925 or at Robert.Pearce@summitcountyco.gov or Summit County Communications Center non-emergency phone number (970) 668-8600.
