SHERIFF’S OFFICE SEEKS CHILDREN’S HELP TO NAME SPEED TRAILER AT SAFE SUMMER KICKOFF
SUMMIT COUNTY, CO – The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is seeking our community’s children’s assistance with naming our much beloved patrol speed trailer. The speed trailer can often be seen slowing down passing vehicles by using radar technology in unincorporated Summit County neighborhoods. Throughout the years, “Speedy” has often been referred to by many names, however the time has come to bestow a name of virtue upon this vital element of speed enforcement in Summit County.
Summit County Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons stated, “Speed enforcement is a top priority for the Sheriff’s Office and involving the community in recognizing the importance of using caution and awareness while driving is crucial. My hope is that each time the public sees our speed trailer they will be reminded of the responsibility we all have in practicing safe driving techniques.”
Middle and Elementary school students are invited to stop by the Sheriff’s Office table and contribute their name suggestion at the annual Safe Summer Kickoff at Rainbow Park in Silverthorne on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Sheriff’s Office will make a public announcement on social media of the winning name selected.
