Low Cost Internet and Technology Resources

Posted on April 24, 2020 at 1:38 PM by Sarah Wilkinson

Over the past few weeks, social distancing has affected most of our daily activities – migrating them from in person interactions to digital, online interactions. We are all doing our best to comply with public health orders by staying in our houses to slow the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, we are depending on our internet connection and our phones to connect us to the rest of the world.

Many people need a fast and reliable internet connection to work from home. Summit School District has decided to dismiss in-class learning and finish the school year through distanced learning, so students need to be online with their classmates and teachers. Many doctors’ offices are conducting visits via tele-medicine, either over the phone or through a video call. And of course, we are all having video dance parties and happy hours with our friends and family, both near and far. It’s more important than ever to be connected to the internet – either on our computers or our mobile devices.

We’ve gathered resources for community members to access low cost internet and technology, for example Xfinity is offering two months of free services for new subscribers to their Internet Essentials Program. Our resource sheet also include links to tutorials and guides for some of the programs you or your children may be using, like Zoom and YouTube. We know how important it is to stay connected and hope these resources help you and your family.
