Short Term Rentals Blog

Summit County is implementing regulations for short term rentals (STRs), which are applicable to properties in the unincorporated areas of Summit County. The STR regulations address:
  • - Permitting and fees
  • - Regulation of key neighborhood impacts (e.g., parking and trash)
  • - Regulation of life safety issues (e.g., smoke and carbon monoxide detectors)
  • - An effective compliance-monitoring and enforcement system.
This blog will keep you abreast of relevant processes, policies, information and other matters related to our STR program.

STR Process Update: August 27 Countywide Planning Commission Public Hearing

Posted on August 23, 2018 at 3:26 PM by Beth Huron

Thank you to everyone who has reviewed the draft short-term vacation rental regulations for unincorporated Summit County and participated in a focus group meeting or submitted an online feedback form within the past few weeks.  Your input has been very valuable and is helping us to fine tune the proposed policy language related to the local agent / property contact person, occupancy provisions and other key topics of concern to our community stakeholders.

Please note that a Countywide Planning Commission public hearing will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 27 in the Buffalo Mountain Room at the Summit County Commons, 37 Peak One Dr., in Frisco. At this meeting, the Planning Commission will review the current draft of the proposed STR regulations, hear public testimony, and provide a recommendation to be forwarded on to the Board of County Commissioners. This meeting will include a public hearing, during which members of the public are invited to provide comment.

The August 27 meeting materials are available for review on the County website at:
