Summary:
There will be a community meeting this evening at Silverthorne Elementary at 101 Hamilton Creek Rd in Silverthorne. Doors will open for one-on-one discussions at 4:30pm with the meeting beginning at 5:00pm.
Yesterday, crews completed placing hose along the southern and eastern perimeters of the fire to assist with further mop up efforts. Work continued along the Royal Buffalo Trail as crews removed hazard trees.
In addition to removing hazard trees where it is safe to do so today, firefighters will continue mopping up around the perimeter of the fire and patrolling in the Wildernest & Mesa Cortina neighborhood
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected today. Temperatures will be in the low to mid-60s with increased cloudiness and a relative humidity of 25%. Winds are predicted to be out of the south to southwest at 10-15mph with gusty winds associated with any thunderstorms.
At this morning’s Operational Briefing, Deputy Incident Commander Michael Haydon reminded all involved in the Buffalo Fire to “finish strong and learn one new thing today” as they return home or head to other fires. While fewer firefighters will be present on the fireline, crews will remain engaged with suppression operations.

This system sends emergency notifications by phone, email, and text to keep community members informed of unusual events such as evacuation notices, wildfires, floods and hazardous materials spills. An area closure remains in place for a portion of the Dillon Ranger District of the White River National Forest for public safety surrounding the Buffalo Fire. Trail closures also remain in place.
This will be the last release from the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Blue Team. The Buffalo Fire will transition back to a local Type 4 organization at 6:00am on Sunday, June 16. Continue to find fire updates on Facebook and Inciweb.
