A wildfire is burning in the White River National Forest in Summit County, Colorado, near the town of Silverthorne.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office has issued an evacuation of the Mesa Cortina and Wildernest neighborhoods, above 20 Grand Road in unincorporated Summit County. No vehicle traffic is allowed in the direction of these neighborhoods past Lowe's Home Improvement, unless they are retrieving their children.
The fire is estimated at 30 acres; sparks and embers are within 250 feet of structures.
Silverthorne Elementary School (101 Hamilton Creek Rd., Silverthorne) will open as a shelter at 2 p.m.
