Current Situation: Firefighters will monitor the fire by ground or air and will take action on areas for fire growth to the north, south, or east if necessary. Construction of the contingency line on the south portion of the fire will continue today in order to protect communities and infrastructure in the unlikely event that the fire moves to the south and east. These contingency lines involve crews tying together existing mitigation work to create a fuel break that could also be quickly utilized as a fire line for any future fire activity.

Peak 2 Fire is 85% contained. There was no significant growth on the fire for the last several days. The weather is largely expected to continue with overcast skies, cooler temperatures, and relatively calm winds. Forecasts show a small chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Fire behavior activity will be limited on the fire over the next 2 days.

Resources are being released to travel home or to other fires in the West.

Evacuations and Closures:  There are currently no pre-evacuation or evacuation orders.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and stay aware of the fire status through fire information sources and the media. Please call the public information line at (970) 668-9730 with questions.
