Current Situation: Weather today will be 2-4 degrees warmer than the last few days, with lesser cloud and thunderstorm coverage today and lower relative humidity. Firefighters intend to capitalize on this weather to continue holding and improving containment line. Conditions today will be good to sweep the area around the fire for smokes and hot spots.

A large part of today’s plan includes scouting for contingency lines. The plan is still being evaluated to the south and the north of the fire area. The contingency line to the south would involve crews tying together existing mitigation work to create a fuel break that could be quickly utilized as a fire line if necessary. Forest Service personnel are working with fire managers
to help plan for minimal resource impacts. This contingency line to the south would be to protect Peak 7, Breckenridge Ski Area, and the town of Breckenridge from future fires.

A structure protection groups will continue to work in and around the Peak 7, Red Tail Ranch, Gold Hill, and south Frisco areas. This group of engines will also provide initial response for any new fires that emerged in the area.

Evacuations and Closures: Areas west of Colorado State Route 9 from Cucumber Gulch and Valley Brook north to the Iron Springs construction site remain on pre-evacuation notice. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant to stay aware of the fire status through fire information sources and the media. Please call the public information line at (970) 668-9730 with questions.

Peaks Trail, Gold Hill, Wheeler, Miners Creek trails remain closed. Parts of the Colorado Trail are closed where overlap occurs with trail closures in the area. Miners Creek Road is closed.
