County Floodplain Regulations
The County Engineer of Summit County acts as the floodplain manager for all areas in unincorporated Summit County. Floodplain Management regulations are found in Chapter 4 of the Code. Floodplain Management duties are performed as members in good standing of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) in accordance with FEMA regulations promulgated in Title 44 of the Code of Federal Regulations, and the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) regulations promulgated in the CWCB Adopted Floodplain Rules and Regulations.
The officially adopted Flood Maps may be found online at the FEMA Map Service Center, or hard copies may be viewed or purchased at the Summit County Engineering Department office in the County Commons campus. Any questions regarding the County’s Floodplain Management regulations, Special Flood Hazard Area boundaries, flood maps, or other flood hazard related questions should be directed to the County Engineer.
