Emergency Preparedness

The Summit County Public Health Department is actively involved in planning to meet public health responsibilities in times of emergency or disaster.
The health department also responsible for:
  • Implementing policies or programs and provide health information to the public in order to prevent and mitigate public health emergencies in all hazards preparedness.
  • Responding to the health and medical needs of the public generated by a disease outbreak in Summit County.
  • Providing technical expertise and assistance to other first responders during other types of disasters in Summit County.
  • Developing plans and procedures that address numerous aspects of PH emergency response and implementing trainings and exercises designed to test/improve those plans/procedures
