SUMMIT COUNTY — Summit County Community & Senior Center will join an estimated 1,000 local groups across the country to celebrate the 24th Annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 31. As an official host site, the Community & Senior Center will offer a wide variety of fitness activities, educational sessions and healthful snacks.
An estimated 100,000 seniors nationwide participate in the event, which helps promote active, healthy lifestyles through physical fitness, good nutrition and preventive care. Local activities will take place at the Community & Senior Center, 83 Nancy’s Pl., Frisco, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities include Kundalini yoga, Zumba Gold, self defense for seniors, Tai Chi for arthritis, nutrition for seniors, blood pressure checks and more.
“This series of fun, healthy activities is a great opportunity for seniors to make, renew and revitalize their commitments to live healthier lives through better health and fitness,” Community & Senior Center Manager Lorie Williams said. “We welcome all local seniors to join us for this free event to try a new activity or learn about a new strategy or program to support your health, regardless of what your current fitness level may be.”
