Colorado Life Trak Program

Colorado Life Trak is a statewide program designed to offer peace of mind to families who have loved ones who suffer from mental disorders that may cause them to wander off from their home, school or other locations. Common conditions of participants may include Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Down Syndrome, Autism, Prader-Willi or various brain injuries.

Through this program, a transmitter bracelet with a unique frequency is placed on the participant. In the event the participant wanders away from his / her location and a search is started, Summit County Rescue Group and Sheriff’s Office personnel can use a receiver-tracking device set to the participant’s personal frequency to assist in finding them. The average search / recovery time for a Colorado Life Trak (COLT) lost person is under 30 minutes.

For more information regarding COLT, or to submit an application, contact Kristen Peterson with Summit County Public Health: (970) 668-9715 or KristenP@co.summit.co.us.

Boat Patrol

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office Boat Patrol Unit was established in response to the increasing amount of recreational activity on Dillon Reservoir and Green Mountain Reservoir. The primary responsibilities of the Boat Patrol Unit are education and enforcement. During summer months, Boat Patrol maintains a seven-days-per-week patrol on Lake Dillon.
